10 Free Tools to Create an Outstanding Resume

>Excellerate Home >Really Useful Free Stuff >Personal Impact: Success strategies for career, life and work >Career Smart 10 Free Tools to Create an Outstanding Resume

Templates and online resume builders can help you create an effective resume by stepping you through the process of building and compiling your personal information into a formatted resume. Most resume builder services have a free basic account with options to upgrade to premium accounts, for a monthly subscription, with more features.

Caution! Resume Builders don't all work the same way

Before you start using any "free" resume builder make sure that you'll get a free printable resume as some services will only allow you to use your resume within their system. For example, the free (lite) service offered by resumecompanion.com wont allow you to print, send by email or save to Microsoft Word, PDF or HTML. These options require you to upgrade at a cost of $US30.00 per month. There are cheaper resume builders which provide you with these features - some are included in the list below.

Please note that the listing of the following tools should not be construed in any way as an endorsement. Carefully evaluate several services before making your choice - check the terms and conditions, privacy policy and compare the free and premium paid features.

1. Resume Word Doc Templates

Use a resume template as a starting point to create your own resume. Add your information to the template, then edit and fine tune to highlight your skills, experience and achievements. Once you're done you can run your resume through RezScore (Tool 2) and continue to fine tune until your resume scores an A+. These safe sites provide free word doc templates:
