LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FOR TEAM LEADERS, SUPERVISORS AND FRONTLINE MANAGERS
To ensure your leadership development is a focused investment Excellerate creates custom designed leadership coaching, training and development programmes based on:

  • Your Leadership Group
eg First time Team Leader's, Supervisors or mid level Managers. The number of personnel, location, language needs, previous education and training
  • Leadership Competencies.
Based on your competencies and prioritised development needs or, where you don't have a leadership competency model, Excellerate's Leadership Framework© can be used and, because it's our proven model, we can very easily adapt this (along with all the supporting resources) to fit your organisation and culture.

THE BETTER IT FITS
THE BETTER IT STICKS

Research indicates that competency development takes place through a combination of different activities
15% Formal Training and Education
15% Relationships and feedback from bosses, peers, subordinates, coaches, mentors and 360 assessments
55% On the Job experience such as challenging job assignments
15% Off the Job Learning volunteer work, community involvement, industry associations etc

The Seven Leadership Roles

1. The Authentic Leader cultivates integrity, resilence and personal effectiveness as an authentic, credible leader

2. The Navigator sets direction and charts the course translating vision into action

3. The Talent Manager develops people’s potential and manages performance

4. The Team Coach develops effective and cohesive work teams

5. The Director plans and initiates action, deploying and coordinating resources to achieve objectives

6. The Architect recognises whole systems and their interdependencies to design cohesive strategies and solutions

7. The Entrepreneur applies inventive thinking and risk taking to identify opportunities and innovative solutions

Twenty Four Leadership Competencies
There are 24 competenices in Excellerate's Leadership Framework. These are linked to each of the seven leadership roles, which in turn are aligned to 6 areas of performance. Very simply these competencies describe the desired leadership performance and context i.e What, Why and How well. The competencies also provide the basis for the Leadership needs analysis to identify a leader's strengths and development needs. This information enables:

  • Targetted and prioritised development for individual leaders and/or groups of leaders
  • Greater efficiency in the allocation of training budgets and programme scheduling
  • Focussed coaching and customised training design as well as more informed selection of public courses
  • Significantly improved results at a personal and organisational level

 LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY AND RESOURCES

360 Feedback Leaders receive a comprehensive 360 feedback report based on each leadership competency, role and area of performance

360 Feedback
Excellerate's 360 Feedback is based on our Leadership Development Framework. It involves:

  • Briefing Leaders on the 360 process and tools, before nominating 6-8 feedback sources to complete the 360 questionnaires
  • Gathering feedback (from self and others) through written questionnaires to form accurate self-perceptions
  • Processing and reviewing the consolidated 360 individual feedback reports with an Excellerate trainer or coach
  • Assessing abilities and taking stock of strengths and weaknesses (self-awareness)
  • Selecting the most important areas on which to focus (goal setting)

Leadership Competency Directory and Activity Guide Excellerate's 53 page guide assists leaders with the design of their Leadership Development Action Plan. :

Leadership Learning Agenda
Working with the results from their 360 Feedback and Excellerate's Leadership Competency Directory and Activity Guide, Leader's design their Leadership Learning Agenda with a Personal Development Action Plan.

The Activity Guide includes suggested activities for each of the 24 competencies within Excellerate's Leadership Framework. This ensures activities are aligned to specific competencies and development needs.

The wide range of suggestions, from on and off the job to self-directed activities, accommodate the Leader's level, individual development needs, situation and preferred learning style.

Leadership Learning Journal
Insight Informs Action

The Leadership Journal
Excellerate's 61 page Leadership Journal includes a diverse range of activities to support reflection and learning in three areas of leadership:

Self Leadership
The personal facets of leadership, which determine an individual’s personal preferences, leadership style and primary point of reference.

Leading Others
The capacity to value and leverage the diversity and talents of others

Leadership Impact
The Leader's contribution, influence and impact on organisations and society

Leadership Learning
What do I need to KNOW?

Leadership Training
Following the 360 feedback and personal planning process, Leaders undertake formal learning to assist with the acquistion of the appropriate knowledge and skills. Leadership models, principles, techniques, tools and strategies are introduced and practised through action based learning which can incorporate any combination of lecture, group discussions, self directed activities, work based projects and experiential exercises with observation and feedback.

Excellerate's Leadership Courses can be adapted to meet your needs or customised modules can be delivered - as short onsite workshops, one - three day courses or as a coherent programme of longer duration.

All Excellerate learning incorporates pre and post course strategies to revise and reinforce new skills and promote effective learning transfer; of these coaching is considered the most effective.

Leadership Coaching
Turning Learning into Action

One on One or Small Group Leadership Coaching
Individual one on one or small group coaching can be combined with formal training. Coaching supports leaders as they rehearse, evaluate, and consolidate new skills and behaviours on the job.

Coaching can also be effective without formal training. In this instance Excellerate's self paced learning combined with coaching assists with skill development while providing guidance and accountability as leaders integrate new skills, implement personal development plans and work towards specific personal and business goals.
